HUNTING

Ammunition available for hunting can be summarized in a relatively straight forward manner by tabulating pertinent information in matrix form.  Refer to the links in the navigation bar or at the bottom of the page for ammunition suggestions for various rifle and shotgun hunting requirements.

Handgun rounds suited for hunting are somewhat limited.  Consider .22LR, .17HRM and .22WMR for small game hunting.  The .357 Magnum is on the small side for deer hunting, but may be allowed in some states.  The .44 Magnum has more authority in this regard, and is the preferred Magnum round.  

Other large handgun hunting calibers include  the .454 Casull, .480 Ruger and 50 S&W.
