The
featured property is truly unique in the world. Its 550 acres are
home to the last and reportedly largest intact stand of old growth giant Sequoia
forest still remaining in private ownership today. This mountain property has no like
or equal that can be acquired for personal or corporate use. The
parcel contains hundreds of trees with
diameters in excess of 10 feet, as well as thousands of "smaller"
sized giant Sequoia. The forest is home to the fourth largest giant Sequoia tree
in the world.
The
land was last purchased in the 1930's, and has been in the ownership of one
extended family ever since.
Acquire
possession of this spectacular mountain estate, a property that most
would agree is suitable for inclusion into the National Park System.
This
primeval forest is located in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California,
east of Porterville, in the western United States. On a
continental scale, it is halfway between Las Vegas, Nevada and the
Pacific
Ocean.

The
forest supports numerous groves of giant Sequoia.
Since
the depression of the 1930's, the property has been in single ownership
under one expanded family. This photo shows evidence of earlier
logging. Similar sized trees yet exist, however, and the parcel is
home to the fourth largest giant Sequoia tree on the planet.

Vistas
extend from adjacent mountainous horizons to beautiful views of the
expansive San Joaquin Valley. Surrounded by U.S. Forest Service
land on all sides, the property exhibits both northern and southern
exposures. Elevations range from 6,000 to 7,000 feet. The
property rests on the flank of 9,200 foot Jordan Peak.

The
property contains over 300 giant Sequoia trees with diameters in excess
of 10 feet. Literally thousands of "smaller" sized giant
Sequoia exist. Fir and cedar make up the balance of the timber.
Larger giant Sequoias that occasionally succumb to natural forces are
logged at a value of approximately $50,000.

Ownership
encompasses riparian water rights in a perennial creek and a small
lake. Improvements consist of single phase 220 volt electric and
telephone line. The property is accessed by a paved road
which is maintained by Tulare County. Termed "Sequoia
Crest" by its owners, and the "Alder Creek Grove" by the
U.S. Forest Service, the land may have development potential as a
destination ski resort, a private ski facility, a personal estate or a
corporate retreat.
